Madison area preschools

We just purchased a home in Madison and are in the process of moving there from the Nashville area.  I need to find a good preschool for DS for the fall.  Can ya'll recommend any, or tell me of ones to stay away from?

There is a preschool right down the road from our new house at Lamb of God Lutheran Church, and on their website it looks like a good school.  Does anyone know anything about this school?

Re: Madison area preschools

  • And on an annoyed side note - I haven't been on the site in months.  WTH happened to my old username?  I couldn't login without changing my username, which was weird.
  • NM - I fixed it.  I guess I just have a super obvious alias now :)

  • One of the other local girls was telling me about Lamb of God's MDO the other day and she said that the MDO is fantastic, so I am guessing the preschool part probably is as well.  I'll FB her and see what she says.  I'm guessing since you named that place you are around the County Line Road area.

Another one in Madison that is fantastic is Little Madison Academy...although pricier.  But it's a great school.  I'm not sure if it has a waiting list, or not, but it does have a website if you would like to check it out.  It is located off Old Madison Pike.

There is Cambridge Academy over on Nance Road, and also Premier Preschool on Slaughter Road.  Maybe google them to see if they have any websites.

I have also heard great things about Good Shepard United Methodist...it's located on the corner of Old Railroad Bed and Capshaw.  County Line turns into Old Railroad Bed once you cross 72.

    Hope some of this helps.

  • Yeah, we are off of County Line Road, just down the street from the elementary school  I googled all of the schools that you mentioned.  Is Little Madison Academy a preschool that feeds into a private school?  Its downloaded price sheet isn't working, but I'm guessing it is going to be expensive.  I noticed that you have to apply for an interview.  Thats interesting...  Neither Cambridge Academy nor Premier Preschool have prices listed, but I'll give them a call next week.  I don't think the other church is actually a preschool.  It looks more like a daycare.  If your friend gives you some info on Little Lambs preschool, I would really appreciate it if you would pass it along.

     Thanks for your help!

  • Yes Little Madison Academy gives it's students the opportunity to go to Madison Academy which is private school that goes through 12th grade. It's not a requirement though to send your kids on to Madison Academy after preschool though...it just gives them a spot if they so choose.  It doesn't surprise me that they have an interview process, it's a very good and highly sought after program.

I'll let you know what I find out about Little Lambs, or I'll let her know you were asking on here...she's a local bumpie.

  • My daughter just finished pre-K at Good Sheperd. We LOVED it. Her teachers were great and I felt comfortable leaving her there from day one. I have several other friends who have (or had) kids there and they loved it as well. So sad it's time for her to move on to elementary school.

eta: GS is definitely not a daycare-type facility. They have music class, Spanish class, arts/crafts, they work on a different letter each week, colors/numbers/days/months/seasons and take field trips to places like the fire department , library, Sci-Quest and we had one scheduled for the Botanical Gardens until the storms.

I have heard all of this as well.  One of my neighbors sends her daughter there and she absolutely loves it!

Also Wall Highway Baptist is another pre-K program.  It's located on Wall Triana just north of Capshaw.  I don't know much about it, but it might be worth checking out.
