Does anyone use this? It's an iPhone app that allows you to scan a UPC and see if there are allergens. Are there other similar apps? It's from FoodFacts.com. Is it worth it?
The only downfall is that it is literally scanning the label, so if a cross-contamination at the factory is a possibility, it won't list that. So, we still have to call manufacturers to make sure that machinery is not shared, etc., but it really helps you know if they are listing an allergen as something odd. For instance, wheat and gluten can be listed as 30+ different things on a label, so that app makes it easier to locate the obscure ingredients when it doesn't clearly sate "Contains Wheat", etc.

Yep, we have it and I like it.
