How far are you from the hospital? I just found a CNM that does HBACs. She has a 100% success rate. I am really considering this option. Also, did you feel hesitant at all when making your decision?
I am about 15-20 minutes from the hospital. I thought about homebirth with my first VBAC, but I was too scared. After I had her, I thought I should have just stayed home (I got to the hospital pushing). With my second VBAC, there was no question. Now, there were times during my pregnancy that I questioned our decision, but I always sort of knew it was the safest option for us.
I decided on a birth center birth with a CNM. The center is 9 minutes from a hospital. I looked at another center that was twenty minutes from a hospital but that was a little too far for my own personal comfort level. Birth center births and home births both have similar equipment, so they are pretty comparable in regards to emergencies. Yes, I deliberated on the decision extensively before deciding it was best for me. I have a long list of birth center questions that would apply to home birth if you're interested. I spent a lot of time interviewing providers, 5 in total, both OB and CNMs/ hospital and centers before making my decision.
100% success rate is awesome! How many VBACs has she attended in total?
Congrats on finding what sounds like a very supportive midwife.
I live just over a mile from the best hospital in the region. This was definitely a factor in our HBAC decision.
I definitely felt hesitant sometimes but I know I would have felt even more hesitant and stressed about a hospital birth. I had some "what if" worries about home birth, but I also had a lot of worries about hospital birth and being pushed into another cesarean, which of course carries its own set of risks. I think it's normal to worry about the choices you are making when you are trying for a VBAC. Ultimately I felt like home birth would give me the best shot at having a safe and healthy vaginal birth.
In the end we had an absolutely wonderful HBAC and I am so happy we made the choice to have our baby at home. I posted my HBAC story on here a few weeks ago, it's on page 2 of this board if you want to read it.

We are 30 mins from the hospital and I do question my decision at times but it is the BEST decision for my baby and myself. Good luck to you! Trust your instincts
