Was this a good deal?

I got 8oz of cheese for $1.  You could buy up to 5pkgs. I think it's normally priced around 2.50 here.  And you can freeze it right?

  • I think it is and yes, cheese freezes well.  I usually stock up when it's that cheap.

  • depends on what kind of cheese-

.16 oz is a good price point (for me) so anything cheaper is a stock up.

  • It was store brand but you could either get the pre-shredded or block.  Both 8 oz.

sounds like you got a really good deal!

on a side note, i hate preshredded cheese...does anyone else think it tastes wierd, or is it just me?

Here that would be a good price, and yes preshredded cheese tastes awful. I can't eat it. The texture is terrible too.

I hate it too.  It generally costs more, goes bad faster, and has a funky stale flavor to it in my opinion.  Everytime I take out a block of cheese in front of other people and start shredding at it they stare at me like Im crazy for not buying it already shredded...

  • I can't find the linky now but I remember reading the reason pre-shredded cheese tastes gross is because of all the cellulose (anti-caking agent) that is added.

If you saw it being made, you'd never eat it. I always grate my own!

Oh, but I think that's a decent price.
