We've had a rough few days and I just need some fellow moms to remind me that someday I will sleep again. DS2 is almost a month old and we are still feeding every 2 to 3 hours round the clock. DS1 is almost 3. I'm exhausted and feel like a zombie!
I know it is temporary and it will end--DS2 will eventually sleep longer than 1 to 2 hours at a time. It's just hard to remember that in the midst of it.
So, someone please tell me that DS2 will start sleeping longer at some point!
Re: someone remind me that this will end...
Thank you! Yes, at least one longer stretch of sleep would be wonderful! I told DH that if DS2 doesn't start having a longer stretch of sleep during the night (even 4 hours would be awesome) I'm going to consider having DH give him a bottle for the 12 am/1am feeding so I can catch some zzs.
It gets better! You know it does!! Keep the faith!
(this from a mom of three whose 6 mo. old doesn't STTN yet - now someone please remind me it gets better!)
It does, it does, I promise! I was just rereading some blog entries I wrote when DS was your sons age, and I thought oh my word, I forgot what real exhaustion feels like! He was up every 2 hours for what seemed like forever, but around 2.5 months we finally started seeing some longer stretches!
And Artslvr, here's your reminder: It even gets better from 6 months! DS didn't STTN until about 8 months with regularity, but he learned! You'll get there...and I'm still hoping any future babies we have will be sleepers like your first two!

DS started sleeping progressively longer at 6 weeks. He was sleeping a first stretch of 5-6 hours and now sleeps 10 hours just about every night at 5 months. We still have a random night where he wakes up once to feed and we went through the awful 4 mo wakeful which was a whole month of waking once a night to eat and almost a whole week of no naps. He isn't much of a napper, anyway, but when he won't nap at all, he's a friggin bear.
Hang in there, mama, it'll get better!
