Today I am working on my hospital gown for LO's birth. I felt like a big ugly blob when I gave birth to DD and wore the used, worn hospital's gown, so I'm determined to make my own for this birth (maybe 2, one for the birth and one for after).
I realize this may be frivolous, but I'm looking at it as a good opportunity to practice my sewing skills. I bought a cute flowery sheet at Salvation Army for a buck for my fabric and think I'll make my own bias tape for the edges. So all in all it should cost me no more than $3 (including velcro for the shoulders and thread).
Here is the free pattern I'm using in case anyone wants to join me! https://www.lazygirldesigns.com/PDF/Adult_Hospital_Gown.pdf And here is a blog of another mom who made hers using this pattern: https://fixfab.blogspot.com/2010/03/hospital-gown.html
Re: making a hospital gown (laugh if you want)
Hey, you need to be comfortable! Good for you.
While there are many much more important reasons for me choosing to do a homebirth, I have to admit that I am excited about wearing my own clothes, and I plan to rock a bikini top for the water birth. No hospital gown here!

That is cute and if it makes you more comfortable then it's great and well worth the time. For those who either don't have the time or just can't sew, someone told me the other day about delivery gowns you can buy called Pretty Pushers. They are supposed to have lower backs to acommodate epidurals and multiple ties on the front for various monitors. Here is a link to some on amazon.

Cool idea
Those Pretty Pushers are actually really nice! and not insanely expensive!
Such a cute idea!! Anyone watch "Bethany" (ever after, getting married, etc)
Well she had some super cute hospital gowns when she gave birth to Bryn!
Yep, you just print it on regular paper and tape it together.
I just sewed mine in about 2 hours (I had to pick out some seams - did I mention I'm still learning :-) I'm doing some establishments on the neck but otherwise it is done!
That's really cute!
I didn't really wear a gown until after I had DS. I labored at home for quite a while and then got in the shower/tub not long after getting to the hospital, so I never put on a gown. When I got out of the tub, I put a gown on for about 3 seconds but was way too hot & uncomfortable, so I labored naked the rest of the time.
This time, I think I'll bring a jersey skirt & maybe a bikini top for labor and just comfy clothes for after. I'll be at the birthing center, so no gowns.
