DH wants to get W a clock for his room so he knows when it's OK to wake up for the day. He thinks a clock with hands will teach him better about time (how long to go from the 9 to the 12) but I think a digital will be easier for him to grasp at this age.
Who's right?
FWIW: He got a watch for easter and is always asking me what time it is. When he's waiting for something to happen I can tell him when the green hand in on the 8, and he gets that.
Re: Telling Time
I saw this online a few weeks ago. I think it is an amazing idea. I kinda want one
We have the other American Innovative clock called "OK to Wake" and we love it. The differences between it and the Teach Me Time clock: It is digital. And it runs on batteries. and it has a nap timer. The Nap timer is why I got the OK to Wake one over the Teach Me Time one. But I do wish it plugged in instead of running on batteries.
I think before 5 years old it's pretty hard for them to really get how to tell time on an analog clock.
Ben's clock turns green at 7:30 so that's when he can get up. He understands (but doesn't always follow) that if it says "seven dot dot (7:__) that he can get out of bed and sit and read books til the green light goes off. But I think it would be hard to help him with that information with an analog clock because of the big/little hand issues.
That teach me time clock has both, so that would really be awesome to have to help them learn though.
So I guess I'd say if you don't need a nap timer, then the Teach Me time one is good. If you want a nap timer, get the Ok to Wake one and teach him how to tell time later... (although I don't remember how old he is... but I think he's younger than Ben?)
