Pregnant after IF

IVF EDD

When figuring out your EDD after IVF...is day of ER the day of "ovulation"?  This is what I thought... but I am confused after my appointment today with the RE.  I had my ER on 4/18....so I thought I would be 6w4d.  When my RE walked into the room today for my ultrasound he said "well you are about 5 1/2 -6 weeks so we probably won't see a heartbeat yet."  I asked him how that was figured and then he started rambling numbers about so and so days past transfer and so and so days past ER.  My husband and I were VERY confused and just let it go.  Then we had an ultrasound and there was a heartbeat of 120....so I am assuming he was just confused.  I was his first appointment and he wasn't there when we got there....so I am thinking he was running late and just glanced and maybe looked at our transfer date instead.  I know it isn't a big deal because it is only a 4 day difference but it is just bugging me!  How was your EDD figured out?  Thanks!

Even though it was originally based off of our ER date, they changed it after the 1st u/s based off of the measurements.

  • My Due Date was the same as that on the link posted.  And that was the same date my RE gave me.

I agree with you - you are 6w4d.

  • my RE did the same thing! he dithered on a due date (very smart man) b/c of when i triggered and how i was measuring.

i was like, uh, pretty sure 99% of all doctors use your ER as your due date.

since then, an OB, MW and MFM have all asked me what my ER date was and used that as my due date. so i wouldn't pay much attn to his rambling and just use your ER date!

  • Thanks for the help...I put it in the calculator and it says 6w4d.

He said it before the ultrasound ....and then we didn't bring it up after, we were just happy to see a heartbeat!

  • My RE actually didn't use my ER date (according to that website, it is 12/25, but some other websites say 12/26), she based it parly off of the u/s, of which I've had two, which both measured 3 days behind ER.  She wrote down that my EDD is now 12/28, although it measured as 12/29.  She said that date lines up more with my LMP anyway, so it was normal.  I sure HOPE it is!!
