questions for moms club members

I'm looking into joining my local MOMs club and I'm wondering if there are any other MOMs club people on here? If you're already a member what has your experience been like with your MOMs club? How often do they plan activities? Do they ever do organized activities or playdates at people's houses or are they always at parks? My only concern is that DD is still at the age where most of our "outside time" involves me chasing her around and keeping her from trying to eat random things she finds on the ground. My DD is 14 months. Should I wait until she's a little older before I consider joining something like this?

Re: questions for moms club members

  • I haven't joined mine because I didn't care for it, but they email me the activities for the month. They do activities nearly every day, and playdates are either at museums or parks or fast-food restaurants. I'll probably look back into joining when my lo is over a year old, hopefully by then, the mom's have calmed down and act civilized.

  • I joined when my oldest was 9 months. She's 5.5 now. I LOVE the group. Have made great friends.

Activity locations depend on your group and how/where they like to host. Some of our members don't like hosting at their home, but others do.

I host a lot of stuff at my house.

I would still join and go to whatever activities you can.

    GL!

I love hosting so i'd probably volunteer my home at least once per month. I guess I'll try it out. As long as I "click" with at least some of the moms I'll most likely join.

  • It took me a while to find a core group of mom friends that I really clicked with. But I stuck with it.

Hosting is a great way to have people join you and your DD on your "turf"......

  • Like the other said, each club is different. I joined when my daughter was about that age and yes, I spent a long summer chasing her at the park. But it was still worth it to talk to another adult (even if we didn't get to finish a thought or sentence). And you can always participate in mom's night out events.

I, too, host a lot in my home but we do a lot of park dates when the weather warms up.

I think u should do it!

  • My MOMs club has events nearly every day, although alot of them are age-based playgroups (that we aren't a part of).  We always have different things on the calendar... parks, bubble parties, playdoh, easter egg hunts, craft times, coffee shops, meeting at the mall play area or other open gyms, etc, etc.

I joined when DS was 3 months old.  It was my sanity.... I would go and sit and talk with the other women and DS would watch the big kids play.  I have some good friends, and it's always a good thing to have on the calendar for days when we have nothing going on.

  • In my moms group, we decided to have our main meetings inside, b/c most of us have 2 under 3 and that is a lot of chaos running around.

We will meet other times at outside locations, but it's not our primary meeting spot. We like to have adult chatting time too!

  • I am on our Moms Club board.  We try to plan 2-4 events per week.  They vary from kids craft, fit moms, bible study, park days, zoo days.  We spend a lot of our time in the summers outside since the outside time is so limited here in ND.  Our club had 9 babies in 2010, so we will all be running after toddlers this year!
