    WINNING!

    Mine too!

When I bought it, someone told me that soon all tapes would be gone and we'd only use cd's.  I wanted to rush out and replace my Salt n Pepa tape so I'd still be able to listen to it :)

  • This post makes me feel old, as CDs didn't exist when people my age were buying their first album.
  • I can't believe I'm going to admit this but it was The Vervepipe.

Oh I had plenty of tapes and mixed tapes recorded off the radio before I bought my first cd :)

My parents even had a record player for a loooong time.  I had the Sesame Street plastic one.

    Oh my God. Memory lane!

I remember keeping a tape in the boom box (tee hee) with the record and pause buttons on, and I'd WAIT for whatever song I wanted to hear, and quickly un-pause it... classic. :)

  • I think it was Green Day Dookie but my mom returned it because she thought the title and song lyrics were vulgar. So then I went out and bought Warren G's Regulate and hid it from her. Smile
  • I'm not sure what the first one I ever bought was, but the first one I ever owned (gift) was classical.  Mozart or Beethoven.  I got it with my first CD player.  As well as Kriss Kross on cassette.

  • I'm pretty sure my first CD was Ace of Base... I know the first album I ever had on tape was NKOTB Hanging Tough!
  • Another Ace of Base here!
  • I actually won the debut NKOTB CD in sixth grade and it was my first CD ever.  I think that makes me old.

YES!  And we'd call and dedicate songs to our friends and crushes on the radio and it was THE COOLEST if you could get the dedication on your mix tape.

I think we have five record players at my house as I type! But we are special snowflakes. :)

I can't remember my first CD. I had lots of tapes before that and I do remember that my first cassette (of my choosing) was Madonna's Like a Virgin, which my mom refused to let me have, so I paid my friend's brother to buy it for me. I think my first CD might have been either Bob Marley or Madonna's Immaculate Collection.

  • I can't remember what the first one I bought was.  I know that my parents bought me a "boom box" that had a cd player for my 16th birthday.  Huge deal.  Tapes were still super popular when I was in high school.
