making pajamas for a bunch of toddlers. please rec sewing websites

I have a tiny bit of experience with sewing. I've done a few very simple projects, with my grandmother's help (I'll have her help for this one too), and been successful but I am definitely a beginner. I'm trying to get more into it (my last project was about a year and a half ago) but I do enjoy it. I have a group of about 6 mom friends that I do weekly playdates with and such. I was thinking of doing Christmas pajamas for all the kids for their Christmas gifts this year (I know Christmas is a loooong way away but I want to start looking into it so I can get it done before LO#2 arrives at the end of Oct...plus, I'm really slow. lol). Of the 9 kids I'd be making them for, 7 are girls so for them I was thinking nightgowns would be the easiest way to go. For the two boys I guess I'll do pants and shirts (unless anyone has any easier ideas). Right now I'm just looking for resources to get ideas from, maybe look at some patterns. Does anyone know of any websites for anything like this? TIA

  • It would probably be easier to go to a fabric store and flip through their pattern books than trying to find it all online.

This.  Jo-Ann's has these "learn to sew" patterns that you can use.  They're simple and explain a lot of the terminology used.  Honestly though, sewing from a pattern is pretty simple if you've already sewed without one before.  You just need to be visual.  I sewed up some PJ's for Parker this winter and it only took a couple hours for two or three days....but I wasn't rushing.  Once you do one you'll fly through them.

Also- buy one pattern and use parchment or tissue paper to trace the pattern on to it- that way you only have to buy one pattern and use them for all the PJ's.
