Baby Names

Just saw this name and love it. What do you think?

I took a quiz that told me what my baby naming style is. This name was one of the suggestions and as soon as I saw it I loved it.

 Lottie for a little girl

Thoughts?

Re: Just saw this name and love it. What do you think?

  • Maybe as a nickname. Is it short for something else?

It's very much not my style so I don't think I am objective enough to give you a positive opinion.

In the Princess and the Frog, it was short for Charlotte. I like it as a nickname, but I don't think I would use it as a given name.

I like it as a nickname for charlotte. Charlotte is an older name that has come around again and I know when it was popular with the older generation, a lot of the women named Charlotte went by Lottie.

  • The only time I have ever heard it is from The Princess & The Frog (excellent movie Big Smile) and it was Charlotte's nickname. I love it as a nickname for Charlotte. Good Luck!

  • Like pp I think it looks more like a nickname. I've only heard it with Charlotte. There's also a song in Phantom of the Opera referencing little Lottie.

  • I know a little girl named Lottie who is a doll. I also know a woman in her 60s named Lottie & it fits her too. I say if you like it, go for it!
  • It's nms.  But I don't hate it.  It reminds me of the Lottie Moon offering at church.  So, that is one other person who was named that.  I think I like it better as a nickname.

  • LOL- my dad used it as a nickname for me.  i'm not sure why since my name isn't charlotte!

  • My aunt has a friend named Carlotta who is called Lottie for short.

  • I like it but only as a nickname for something else. I don't think that it has enough umph to stand on its own.

  • NMS.

And it's definitely a NN, not a suitable FN, IMO

  • I actually can't stand this name... it makes me think of a Scottish person calling a dog.

(I'm pretty sure this comes from the movie Aladdin where the genie is saying "Come here Laddie!' in a Scottish voice. I know... a very weird reference.)

  • I like it as a nn for Charlotte.

It was my great-aunt's NN. She was cute. :)

  • Makes me think of the name Loretta, very pretty.
  • I think it's a cute NN, but not an appropriate FN.

I worked with a middle aged woman named Lottie. It might be cute for a little girl, but it definitely does not age well!

I know a little girl named Charlotte who goes by Lottie.  It can also be used as a nickname for Carlotta.

    This!

  • I want to say I've seen a German FN that had Lottie as a MN, but I can't remember what it is.  Either way, Lottie is NMS.

  • I love Lottie as a NN. It's one of my favorite NNs out there. I like Carlotta as a FN. It's less common than Charlotte and I think it's just as pretty.
  • Have you ever heard of Lottie Moon? She's a famous Southern Baptist missionary who lived in China. The name sounds very southern to me. I'd prefer a longer name like Loretta with nn Lottie.
  • I love it.  It's one of those names that I'm sure you're supposed to use as a nn and not as the actual name, but I like it just the way it is.

  • I don't like it. It sounds like a nickname, not a real full name.
