DS has always given us trouble with diapers(doesn't like how they feel) yet he never pt'd until he was almost 3.5. Well the last few weeks he's been fighting us about the pull-up/diaper and tonight he flat out refused to wear anything but undies. After about 45 minutes of fighting him I caved and put him down in undies. My issue is I don't think he's really ready not to wear a pull-up or diaper of some kind. How/when did you realize that dc was ready to go w/o the pull-up or diaper? Any suggestions on what else to try to get him to wear something?
Re: Lurker with a ?... When did you know DC was ready to be night pt'd?
For us it was when they'd woken up dry for a couple of days in a row.
BUT... my oldest was ready REALLY young and I kept waiting for him to hit the magical # of 5 mornings dry.
I wish I'd pulled the pull ups sooner because he'd learned to lay there and pee in the pull up even though he was awake.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
For me - it was when she work up dry after a few nights. in the beginning she had some accidents. now they are very few and far between.
why do you think he isnt ready? does he wake up wet? - have him go potty right before bed.
if he still does - maybe have him put the pull up on himself.
how did he do in undies?
i never fought with DD to wear a pull up for nap time once she was PT - in the beginning of PT i would put her in a pull up and she then asked to wear undies to bed and I let her -- if she had an accident, while it would be a PITA to clean up, everything can be washed. Not worth the fight for me.

It depends on the kid. You can't train nighttime. It's physiological, meaning, they need to do it themselves when their brain and body is ready. Some kids can be potty trained early during the day and still NOT be trained at night for months and even years.
Doctors don't consider it an issue until they are around 6-7 years old. A lot of factors come into play.
We still have an issue with night training. I will know when my kids wake dry for 2 months consistently. My peds aren't worried at all, and neither are we. It will happen.
Have you thought about getting him cloth trainers? They go on like underwear, but are used for kids that are cloth diapered and potty training. It may be a good compromise......
