Two Under 2

Need a gift idea for a mom with 2 under 2

Hi ladies,

I'm hoping you can help me. My sister has a 6 year old girl, a 15 month old boy, and is expecting a third (also a boy) in early July, I was wondering if you had any good gift ideas for her? I'd like to get her something that will help her manage the two little ones. Any thoughts?

Thank you!

Sarah

  • Maid service? I would love for someone to come in even if it was only once And clean. I barely have time to just keep up.

  • Ditto the maid service. Also, you could get her a gift certificate to her fav restaurant and offer to watch the kids so her and DH can have a night alone.

Other ideas-anything you can't reuse with a 2nd baby. Wipes, diapers, baby wash, gas drops, tylenol, etc.

Great idea except they all live with my mom and have folks that come in to clean. Basically my mom helps support them all, long story, but I would like something I can wrap up and give her.

Does she already have a Moby, Bjorn or Ergo?  I found that I was wearing my baby much more than I did when it was just DS.  You need your hands free to chase after the older one.

    Good luck!

Great idea! Which of those three options is best (or does it not matter)?

I loved my Moby when DD was very small but I'm getting an Ergo for this baby. Both are great options!!

  • The carrier depends on the person...maybe ask her what she would prefer? I hated my moby - but I love my beco gemini (which is sort of similar to the ergo)

Other ideas, babysitting coupons (even if just after they go to bed...a late night movie/dinner) or cleaning is always great.

    Wine.

The Bjorn isn't very good as it stresses baby's back etc but the Moby and Ergo are great. The Moby was brilliant with my DS but it can be very warm in summer. I got the Ergo Sport as it's cooler and I use it all the time with DS. I'll be buying the Infant Insert so I can use the Ergo with this bub too.

So I vote Ergo with infant insert if you're going to buy one. That way she can use it with either her 15 month old or her new baby.

  • The Ergo is my favorite carrier.  Maybe see if any baby stores in your area carry it and take her to try it on.  Other ideas: a wagon (could be fun for the two oldest to be pulled around), gift certificate to kid places like gymboree, mini golf, indoor play areas, paint your own pottery, ect (having scheduled activities for the two older would give her a little down time).

I agree with this. We have an Ergo & its the only way we can all go on an outing.

Also, I LOVED when people brought over meals. I'm still struggling finding time to cool good meals, so I really appreciated that.

I actually have all 3, and we both (DD and I) have liked the Bjorn the best.  We tried the moby when she was a baby, and I couldn't get it tight enough (and it took forever to get it on - not convenient when you have 2 kids yelling and waiting for you!).  I didn't get the infant insert for my Ergo since #2 was born at the end of May, and I thought it would be too hot for her in that.  So she went in the Bjorn and loved it.  When she got older, I tried the Ergo, and she hates it.  She wants to face out (like in the Bjorn), and gets angry when I put her in the Ergo facing me.

  • I also love when people brought over meals with my daughter.  I don't really like to cook so I usually bring people the pre-made meals from Costco (there are a lot that are pretty good that can just be microwaved).  Also, there are services in our area that make healthy and yummy meals that they deliver to your house frozen.  I've never used them but I know a lot of people that swear by them just after they have a baby.

And I thought the PPs idea about a wagon was pretty good, too.
