CD for preemies?

this is my first pregnancy and i'm wanting to use CD but i know of no one that uses them. i really want to know as much as i can about them before our baby arrives. so i figured this would be the best place to ask my question

i was wondering are there any good CD for preemie babies?

(being brand or type)

Re: CD for preemies?

  • Preemie prefolds would work, along with lil joeys (which are all-in-ones)

But if you're only 10 weeks along, why would you be looking into preemie CDs?

it was a passing thought really. i'm one of those people that has to know as much as possible about things i'm wanting to get into even it may not apply to me. and a very long story short~i'm on bed rest due to a high risk pregnancy and really bored SO~i figured why not ask since i was curious

I'm kind of like that too.  What we did is just buy a dozen preemie prefolds and then two dozen infant prefolds plus about a dozen other "easy" diapers for changes at night or out and about when we didn't want to deal with snappis.  Although Nolan was born at 39 weeks and weighed a normal 7lbs 12 ounces at birth, I'm SOOO glad we had the preemie prefolds because the infant ones were HUGE on him the first week and we still use the preemie ones as doublers.  Also, we had a few of the "easy" diapers that worked right away like Drybees Gone Natural fitteds in size 1- they are super small and very absorbant for a newborn so I liked them for longer stretches of sleeping (overnight where he usually went about 4 to 5 hours before waking to eat/change) AND they lasted until around 2 or 3 months so I got good use out of them.  I would also look into the RAR Little Joeys like the PP said because they are SUPER small.  That said, I did pass them over for the new baby because of conflicting reviews.

  • Happy Heiny's actually makes preemie diapers that can go all the way down to 1lb and are compliant with NICU policies. Linky
  • AS a preemie mom, I wouldn't worry about preemie diapers.  If you baby is a preemie, chances are he or she will be in the NICU until close to their due date and by then they will be big enough for newborn diapers.  Most NICUs won't let you use cloth diapers anyway and you seriously won't want to deal with it or have time for laundry with a child in the NICU anyway.  But you are 10 weeks along. Don't even worry about that yet.
