God I feel like an a$$hole

Lydia just had another skin laser treatment done for some new little hemangiomas. DH took her the first time so this was my first experience with it. She was not a happy baby at all. She screamed the entire time and I almost cried with her. She is sleeping right now. I'm going to give her LOTS of snuggle time tonight. That really sucked.

I wouldn't worry if your pedi isn't worried. Lydia at one point had 63 of them. Most of them small pinpoints, but also several larger, raised ones. She had to get an u/s done to make sure her liver was ok (it is). After that we had to go to a pediatric dermatologist to determine if treatment was needed. He recommended the laser treatment, but it only works on the small, flat ones. She's had some pop up since the first treatment, and so he wanted to treat again. The rest of them will fade on their own over the next few years.

I think the only reason there was a concern was because she had so many spread all over her body. So yeah, I wouldn't necessarily worry if your doctor isn't concerned. A lot of kids get them. But it doesn't hurt to raise the question the next time you go in for a checkup.

  • I'm sorry that is rough. I, my one DD, and my mother in law all have them.

Thank you so much his is not very large but raised and is on the back of his neck. Right under his new helmet! I worry about it being rubbed by the helmet.

B has 2.  A small dot on her face and a quarter size one on her belly.

My doctor did tell me to keep an eye on the belly one in particular once she started crawling/walking.  They bleed pretty easily, apparently.  We've had no problems so far though.  Also, the one on her belly is going away.  It's turning gray in the center and going back to its normal skin in places.  I'm hoping it dissappears on its own so we don't have to do any kind of treatment - same thing with the one on her face.

  • That totally sucks.  I understand - DS had to have a Cat Scan done at 6w old.  It took the NINE times to get an IV in (for the contrast dye).  They couldn't do the scan without it.  It was totally horrible and I felt completely helpless.  Sad

Lauryn has a huge one on her back.  And we had it lasered once.  It was awful.  Thankfully DH was with me and he held her down because I couldnt do it.  We only had to have it done once.

And hers did bleed once. Scared the crap out of me.  But I applied pressure and it stopped pretty quickly.  She still has it but it is really fading.

Ava has a few also but we never needed laser treatment for her.

I hope your LO is doing ok today.
