Trying to Get Pregnant

charting question

So I started charting ths cycle, keeping track of it on my calender, not through FF or anything like that. My question is this... When i temp will it go up and up and spike around time of ovulation or does it just SPIKE around ovulation and that is it? I am using Opk's as well, but I am just curious about the temping. And, when I temp and I spike, this means I did ovulate? or I am going to ovulate? and if it means i am going to, what is the time frame? I know am going to go on
FF and read up on temping, but I i am just super busy the next few days, and would like to hear what you ladies say...

thanks a bunch!

Re: charting question

  • your temp will spike the day after you ovulated so won't wait for your spike to bd.

  • so basically temping tells me that I DID ovulate. but checking cm and opk's will tell me when I am about to.
  • It's not just a spike, it's a sustained temperature shift. See my chart in my siggy for examples. There are lower pre-O temps, and higher post-O temps. You O the day BEFORE your temp shift.

Yes. your CM and opks will tell you that your body is getting ready to O and your temps will confirm it. You need to have 3 high temps to confirm O. And then you temps should stay high until your AF, or they should stay high if you are pregnant.

  • Hey, so your temp dips before ovulation and then starts to spike. I recommend using FF - LOVE IT!!! GL!

I feel the need to clarify this - that's not always true. Some women, but certainly not all, will see a dip before ovulation. In terms of your question, one you see sustained high temps for a few days you can be fairly sure you ovulated the day or so before the first high temp.

I definitely agree with the recommendation to use Fertility Friend to chart. I know you mentioned that you're busy, but when you get a chance I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how awesome it is.  In addition to their really helpful software (that will pinpoint ovulation for you), their tutorials are a wealth of information, it sounds like they would be really useful for you. I swear they did not pay me to say all of this Stick out tongue Good luck!
