DS is super fussy. He just cut one of his bottom teeth and the other is about to poke through. I remember there was a recall on hyland's or something. What should I give him?
I bought Humphrey's teething tablets at CVS per fjaril's rec. They worked great. DD also liked me rubbing her gums a little with my finger. She doesn't like those teething rings too much, so I don't bother with them.
No siggy pic until TB gets rid of Twitter and FB links
The FDA put out a warning in April for Baby Orajel, too. We just used frozen washcloths tied in knots, frozed peach slices, and advil when nothing else seems to help.
I think they still have it, but when I had a bit of mommy brain and couldn't remember where I'd stashed my Hyland's teething tablets, I bought some stuff at Walgreens that had Winnie the Pooh on the bottle and was for teething. It was in a glass bottle with a sucky-top thingie (yeah) and you basically filled the thing and gave it to the teething victim. It worked really nicely. Then I found my 2 bottles of Hyland's and we went back to those, but when I run out, I'm totally going to look for that other stuff.
This. Really, Advil and a teeny bit of orajel (which I didn't start using til he was cutting molars) are the only things that seem to take the edge off for DS.

Technically most pediatricians don't want you giving Motrin (ibuprofen) before 6 months. So Tylenol to start for the pain. Emily responded well to the Humphreys. If he's coordinated enough to get something in his mouth, Emily also liked it when I took small squares of recieving blankets cut up. Soak them in water, roll and twist like a pretzel and freeze. At this age you might have to hold it for him but knawing it it may make him really happy. I don't recommend this though if you use anything but organic detergent. Or if you use lots of liquid fabric softner etc. Whatever residue is left on the cloth, your baby will be chewing on and ingesting.
Re: What do you give for teething?
If she is super fussy, Tylenol or Motrin! I just gave her some after being fussy all day and she is fine and happy now.
If she's a paci baby then you can put one or two in the freezer for a bit and it helps sooth them right away.
Advil. Lots of Advil.

Wine.
Oh wait, for you or the baby?
