Can toddlers use adult sunscreen?

I have some baby sun screen, but I just realized it is not water proof. I am going to the beach this weekend, so obviously we will need some that is water proof. I have some adult water proof 50spf sunscreen. Is this ok to use on LO, or should I buy some babie sunscreen?
