So, I am going to have to start walking to get back into some semblance of shape. A usually wakes up between 6-6:30. I'll need to leave the house at 5 in order to walk for 45 minutes in the morning before work. Has anyone had luck with just putting the baby in the stroller and her going back to sleep while you walk? Or is it too bumpy to expect this? I don't want her to have to suffer because mama likes milkshakes.
Re: Walking in the stroller with baby
H always went to sleep in the stroller when he was little. My kid is an anomaly in many ways though
Ditto. I'd be scared I'd be starting a 5am wake up call habit, so that even on the weekends or days you wanted to sleep in, she'd be up and wanting to get going.
I would, but the reason I am doing it is because DH just signed up for a bootcamp that starts at 5:30. I told him, as an incentive, that I would get up with him (because I can't run/jump with my back issues, but I can walk, and misery loves company, etc.). So, now I have to walk.
I will accept my Wife of the Year Award now, please.
Can you wake yourself up and do a home walking video like this one? That way you get your award, get your exercise and you don't have to wake A.
Ditto. I honestly wouldn't sacrifice my kiddo's sleep. Get up with G and do a video at home--yoga or 30 day shred or pilates or something that you can do at home. Then on mornings when he doesn't have boot camp, put him on duty and go get your walk on solo.
Ditto walking at home and not waking up A. I wouldn't wake her up any earlier than you absolutely have to! Also, I have done these walking videos and enjoyed them. My mom was big into these and I used to do them with her.
Can you walk at night?
Jack doesn't sleep in the stroller. I've ran the 6 mile loop around town lake and he's up the entire time. I'd hoped the gravel would put him out but it hasn't since he was 6 weeks old. Around the neighborhood he's awake too and it doesn't matter if its sidewalks or road. I've even tried when he's about to fall asleep for his nape and bamm he's awake but he'll fall asleep the second we get home. It's like he knows!!!!
I've had to do my running/walking at night after he's down.
I'd renege on my promise to DH, sleep to the usual time that A wakes, then go walking with her in the evenings. That's how I got back in shape after R was born-- evening walks. We both loved it.
But if you feel must honor your promise to DH, then I'd do like pps say, and do mat pilates at home.
Dude, you're crazy. You're going to mess with her wake time, then when you don't want to walk at 5am anymore, you're going to have a baby who wakes up at 5am. And you're going to cry.
Do the Shred at home or get a treadmill, I say.

This. Don't do it.
I concur. There are all sorts of cheap treadmills and ellipticals on craigslist. We got an elliptical off there last year, and it is awesome.
ditto times a billion. Do a video! Those Leslie Sansone walking videos are actually pretty good - and nothing like an overly perky highly caffeinated woman cheerily yelling at you to wake you up in the morning
OOOOKKK. Geez. It was a dumb idea. Hop off my back, yo.
I'm gonna check out those videos. I've never heard of them before. They look even more low-impact than regular walking, which is perfect for me!
