Favors...

Okay my mom is having my shower but we are stumped on favors...One idea I had was to make hand scrub and put in little Mason jars with stickers ....something about Garrett and thank you.  What did you do?  Any ideas would be great! TIA!!

Re: Favors...

  • I've found that food related favors are always received the best. The problem with doing something like a hand scrub/lotion, candle, etc. is that people tend to be particular about scented items or dont use scented items.

Depending on how many guests are coming what about doing a dry cookie mix in a mason jar? I did something similar to this as favors for my friends shower:

This can get kind of pricey though if you have a lot of guests-- but I've found even baking cookies and wrapping them in tulle or the cute cellophane bags is cute. Or doing a blue candy since you know you're having a boy. Just a few ideas :-)

  • I am doing favors for a wedding this summer.  I am making butterfly shaped cookies on a stick.  I use a cake mix cookie recipe and they are so easy!  Just wrap with lastic and tie with a bow or a note that says thank you for coming.  You could do a letter G or something else boy themed.  People love to take food.

  • I don't know what the theme of your shower is so this may not work. I threw a sports themed shower for my sister and I had boxes of Cracker Jacks as favors. I had a cute little saying on them. Something like Get out your ball, bat and glove and get ready to play. Our little slugger Aidan is on his way.  Those may not be the exact words but it was something similar.

A few years ago my good friend had little honey jars as favors and they said "Mommy to Bee" and then had her name and the date of the shower on there. They were really cute but I don't know where she got the little jars of honey. I know you can buy these online but she made them herself and they were way cuter!

  • Yes, I made them myself. I bought a few sheets of a glossy, higher quality paper at a scrapbook store. Each saying was only about the size of a business card. I found a piece of clip art online that had footballs, basketballs, soccer balls and a baseball and put it to the left side then just typed out the saying. I just put them on the boxes of cracker jacks with double sided tape. They turned out really cute and people thought they were adorable.

FYI I bought the Cracker Jacks at Wal-Mart. They came in packs of 3 for 99cents!

They are so easy.  The recipe is mix one box of cake mix (any flavor) with one egg and one stick of butter (and any food coloring to make them the color you want).  Roll out the dough and cut into shapes.  Insert a sucker stick before baking (make sure they are oven proof first!).  Let cool completely before trying to remove from pans.  Done.  So freaking easy and cute!
