Baby Names

Dylan for a girl?

We are having twin girls and trying to figure out names! We defiantly like Haley (yes I know very popular now) but we are looking at Dylan Brooke for a girl? Too boyish? Honest opinions are great :)

  • I don't like it much even for a boy but especially not for a girl.  Haley and Brooke are nice though.  I am really not a fan of giving girls boy names, just NMS.

  • I don't think it's terrible for a girl, but if you're having twin girls, why give one a feminine name and the other a masculine name?  I don't think that's very fair to the masculinely named girl.  It's not that I think twin names should match, but I wouldn't go so wildly opposite, either.

I much prefer Haley and Brooke.

Very good thought! I really never thought of it that way! Thats why I asked :)! Any suggestions of twin girls names that go well with Haley?? Id like to keep Brooke as a middle name!

  • I think Dylan for a girl is fine, I don't think Brooke is particularly girly either though. Ralph Laurens daughter is called Dylan and wasn't one of the Charlies Angels called Dylan too?

  • I personally don't like boy names on girls, so I can't say I love Dylan. However, of all the boy names I've seen for girls, this one is definitely not the worst. I do think Haley and Brooke sound nice together though!

  • What about Michelle Brooke.  I think it works well with Hailey and is very feminine.  I am not a big fan of Dylan for a girl

I really like Dylan Brooke..   I'm not so opposed to boyish names for girls though like a lot of other posters on this board

  • I dont find the name Dylan feminine at all.  I would think you had a boy and a girl.

  • Don't do it. Dylan is and always will be, a boys' name.

    Yes

She will forever wonder why her parents gave her the manly name.

  • I think Dylan Brooke is a beautiful name!

  • Very cute :) I love it. If DH liked it, it would probably be DD's name. Adorable paired with Brooke also.

  • Even if I liked it for a girl's name, which I do not, it is mean to have one twin name be a question her whole life. Even if Hailey was once considered a male name, too.

    Hope you reconsider.
