Those who volunteer, when do you get work done?

I do volunteer work of a financial nature for a religious group.  Lately I am struggling to get the work done.  I wake up at 5:15 in the mornings so I can hit the gym and get showered before DD wakes up at 7:30.  In the mornings we go to playgroup or run errands.  If we don't go out, she plays at home and I can get work done but I feel bad if I don't pay attention to her.  She naps from 12-2, and that is when I should be working, but during that time I like to watch TV for an hour and do cleaning and meal prep.  I tell myself I will work after she goes to bed at 8:00, but by then I am tired and feeling lazy.  I go to bed at 11:00.

What am I missing, any tips that work for you?

Thanks!

  • I volunteer on my town's historical society and I am also the secretary for a club in town. The historical society work is a PITA because i'm the youngest on and they rely on me to do all the computer work....but they seem awed my some of the most basic things so I don't stress about that one too much. The club that I'm the secretary for has me do the minutes and newsletter. I have to force myself to do that work right after my son has gone to bed on the nights right after the meeting- or else it won't get done.

Well, I'm guilty of it too, but it sounds like you DO have the time you just need to buckle down and do it when your LO is sleeping Wink
