Depot Lupron vs. Micro-dose Lupron

Hey Ladies, I got a question......

My nurse is giving me a shot of Depot Lupron next Wednesday for the beginning of my Fresh Embryo Transfer with my donor egg IVF cycle.

She said I only need the one shot, but I see on here that some ladies take micro-dose Lupron for up to 2 weeks or more to suppress.

Do you know the difference between using Depot Lupron and using Micro-dose Lupron, I'm confused and the nurse didnt really explain it well and either did google, anyone wanna enlighten me?

TIA :)

So, I haven't done a DE cycle, but did consider depot lupron for endo purposes.  My understanding is that depot lupron is a higher dose that supresses the ovaries even more and for a longer period than microdose lupron.  Consequently, it typically isn't used when you are going to want to be able to stimulate the ovaries during a fresh, non-DE cycle.

Hopefully, someone else will respond and give you more information.  Good luck, hon!

  • STL is exactly right.  I've been on Lupron Depot for endo for a long time.  It puts you into menopause- meaning you don't cycle on your own at all.  Then, additional therapies can be "added in" depending on why you're using it (I have progesterone supplements for mine so I can sort of minimize the extreme levels of side effects typically experienced during long courses of this, but you'll probably have other things since this is part of an IVF cycle)

Basically, when you're doing a donor egg cycle, you don't want to accidentally produce an egg of your own and have your body attack the donor's cells and cause you to lose the embryo.
