Any interest in a Beauty Swap?

I know the idea has come up before, but I don't think it ever came to fruition.

I've been cleaning out my hair/skin/nail/etc products the past couple days, and while I've thrown away 3 full trash bags of old/half empty stuff I've been setting aside the things that are either brand new or barely used and it kills me to throw it away. So far my large garden tub is about 1/3 full and I'm only halfway through my sorting.... The majority of what I have are professional products, with a smattering of other stuff.

I have yet to find any place that will accept open donations of personal care products, and I know I'm not the only one who has stuff that just didn't work out.

I live northwest (by Lakeline Mall) and am thinking an upcoming Sunday afternoon. Kids welcome, but It might be a madhouse trying to keep toddlers and up out of this kind of stuff!

I'm thinking pretty much anything personal care that is at least half full, in good condition (Ie, used is okay but crumbled, discoloured, broken packaging, dried out, etc is not okay. In other words, if you wouldn't want to get it from somebody then don't bring it.). Hair, makeup, skin care, shower gel, lotion, nail polish, perfume, etc. Full size, sample size, whatever.

  • What a great idea.  If I lived in Austin, I'd be in.  I have sooo much of that stuff.  Including at least 2-3 unopened boxes of proactive and a gazillion bottles of bliss products from my W hotel stays.

Well, you just need to make a trip, just for this. ;) Oh and so we can go to brunch and drink mimosas again. Stick out tongue

M, I'm down.  I've got a good smattering of stuff I could get off my shelves.

  • If I can find enough stuff willing to part with, I'm in!

  • I'm interested! I have so much stuff I've used once or twice and then quit because my skin hated it.

Same here. I've culled the beauty supply herd a lot over the last year or so, but I might have a few things.

  • I love this idea! I'm totally in. I have more hair products than anything, but do have a few other things. I always feel so guilty throwing out stuff.
  • You don't have to have a bunch of stuff to donate to come! Believe me, there's always plenty to go around =) But I will say that when I went to one about 8-9 years ago it's always embarrassing for any of your items to be the last one standing =P You're all like, DUDE, I didn't know it was THAT bad!

I definitely don't need an excuse for brunch and mimosas!  Hopefully can make it down there soon when work slows down a little.
