CS revisions

I just got a letter from the state stating that no revisions can be done until 2014. Now my deadbeat ex is saying he's gonna quit his job because he can't afford what I was granted. What will happen if he quits? He is so stupid.

Re: CS revisions

  • I know in my state, if my XH were to voluntarily quit his job or get a job that paid less he'd still have to pay the same amount (or it would start to accrue in arrears).  Most likely, if he quits his job and stops paying, this huge debt will start to accumulate and follow him around until he pays it off.

  • Quitting his job won't get him any where. He will still have to pay that amount whether he quits or not. Now if he has been laid off or has some other change beyond his control, he can request a review be done in most states. Most states allow for a significant change of circumstances. Quitting his job just because is not a change of circumstances. He will still be responsible and will be in arrears and be made to pay more to catch up.
