Hi ladies, after only being off the boards for three days I feel totally out of the loop! Missed ya'll!
Anywho - I had my u/s for IUI #2 today. I convinced them to do it on CD10 since last IUI I had a 27mm at cd12. Thankfully nothing too gigantic this cycle. I have three measurable follies: 18.5, 14 and a 12.5. I am giving myself the trigger tomorrow and they said they expect me to have two release but possibly all three since I have quote "fast growing follies they may actually grow 3mm a day."
If lets say they are more normal and grow 2mm per day that puts them at 22.5, 18, and 16.5. I have heard anything over 15 has the possibility of release but they didn't seem too confident that the smallest would since they say it's not considered mature until 18mm.
What have your REs told you?
Oh, and they have me triggering tomorrow AM and IUI Friday AM? Anyone esle ever have the IUI 24 hours after trigger instead of the normal 36? I think it's because of the MFI, they want the sperm already there and waiting?!?!?

I can never figure out the follie size. It seems I get a different count based on who's doing my monitoring. But it seems they count anything over 16 as being a candidate for fertilization. At least we have to have the "you are at risk for HOM" talk whenever I have more than 4 follies over 16.
As for the IUI timing, mine have all been at 26-27 hours after trigger. My RE likes to "have the sperm there waiting" when you ovulate. Good luck!!

Welcome back! It will be easy to catch back up, check out Chicago's popular thread a bit down & check out the link in there.
My RE told me that they have found mature eggs in follies as small as 15, but that was for IVF. So anything is possible
.
As far as the 24 hour IUI, I have no advice just a question. When they did his SA did they check for how long his lil guys last? The reason I ask is, my RE checked to see how long they were still "active" for (I am not totally up on all of the SA verbage). There is an average of 3-4days (I think), so I would not worry too much about that. But I have not made it to the IUI stage yet.
GOOD LUCK! Can't wait to hear how it goes.

Hey Clucky, I do not know how long his last - as I don't think that is something they check on MFI because the healthy motile sperm should be just like everyone else's - (like you said ...up to four days).
I just wondered on others since my first IUI was done 36 hours after. Maybe they just felt like changing things up a bit. Who knows. At least now I know there are others that have had it done that early. Thanks ladies for easing my mind.

That made me think too...Since eggs last anywhere between 12 & 24 on average, it could be just what you need - to have them in there waiting! Oooh, I am excited for you!!!! GL!!!!

My RE said that a 15 could have a viable egg, so they count it if its over 15. He likes to trigger at or around 20 mm and all of my IUI's have been 36 hours after trigger, but like the pp said anywhere from 12-40 is normal depending on your RE.

Kati- I always trigger 36 hours before, but my RE gives the option of 24 as well, and we are MFI too!
What stim are you on this cycle? I think on clomid 18mm is considered mature, but that 16 can be on injects. Not sure though.
Good luck this week!!!

Hi Kati! I too was a fast grower and had one of my follicles grow 7mm in 2 days, so I think it is definitely possible for you to have at least two mature when they release.
My RE generally does 24 hours, though depending on the timing of my appointment, it has been closer to 36 also. When I requested B2B IUIs we did them at 24 hrs and 48 hrs and got pregnant. GL

My Dr. triggers at 20. I've had all of my IUIs between 24-30 hrs after the trigger, w/ no/ MFI. It kind of just depends on the Dr.'s schedule & DH's schedule.
Good luck w/ your IUI
