Hello all! I am a new mom - well i will be Oct 1

Plus, i am an only child. So, it is safe to say i have NO clue what i'm doing, and quite frankly, it is a bit overwhelming!! =D I have been trying to decide what type of crib/stroller/bouncer/play yard etc to buy/register for but when you read reviews - they are so split usually - and i don't know who to believe!! I would like some feedback PLEASE!!! So here are my questions - Did you like your crib - has it held up - if not why?! Also - the same goes for any other important piece of babygear - is there something you wish you would have known that maybe would have changed your mind about a certain baby gear purchase? Your help is VERY appreciated!!!!!!
Re: I need some advice - new mom!
You will feel a lot of pressure to get "the right" everything. As long as it hasn't been recalled, it will work fine, whether you spent $100 at WalMart or $800 at a boutique.
Our WalMart crib has held up just fine. I can see this lasting for more than one child. Everything else held up nicely too. We got a basic Graco Snugride car seat, a Graco Metrolite stroller (not many frills), a slightly fancy PnP, and a Carter's high chair.
Truly, you'll be fine. You may run into a mom who's really into strollers or swears by her PnP, but in the end they all work about equally well and will be just fine for your LO.
If you haven't gotten a copy yet, I highly recommend Baby Bargains. It breaks down different items, shows you how many overlapping brands there are, and gives you an idea of what might work best for you. A subscription to Consumer Reports is helpful as well.
GL!
A lot of reviews are unreliable in my opinion since a lot of them are written about how there were missing/broken parts, customer service, or assembly instructions. I only care about the one's that review the item itself and its functions.
Crib - I got the Davinci Emily 4 - in - 1 crib with my sona nd I'm re using it for this little one. It's held up great and I'd most definately reccomend it.
Swing - I wish I'd known that they had plug-in swings! I went through a butt ton of batteries with my son's swing since he basicly slept in the thing all the time (it was a phase he went through).
Travel Systems - I purchased one with my son and I ish I didn't. I hardly used it enough for what I paid for it. It just didn;t fit with my life style.
