DD is finally eating meals again which is great. It took her little body awhile to want to eat again after being sick. But, whenever we sit her in the high chair to eat she gets really upset. She cries, whines, screams, etc. But she is eating her food. It is just a loud stressed way of eating and it is getting really annoying. Any ideas why she is doing this? She has been doing it for all meals the past week. We are still out of town so no idea if that has anything to do with it. We don't feel any top teeth coming in, so not sure if it is hurting her because of possible teething? She takes her bottles just fine. It is only for solids. Any ideas? DH and I dread meal time now.
Re: DD upset when eating ?
This is exactly what Jack does. I've given up feeding him purees with out crying. I usually put a few puffs in front of him to get him to stop crying. I'm trying to do 90% finger foods. I guess once it gets in their minds that they can do something that's all they want to do.
Same with V. She is super cranky until we put a few Puffs in front of her and then all is right with the world.

T did not really get into the finger foods until she got her first taste of cheese (she was ok with the puffs, but not wild about them). Oh my goodness, she loves her cheese. Since then, she's been great at eating everything we've put in front of her. Her pincer grasp got very good very quickly, once she figured out that she liked the things we were giving her. We do all sorts of foods - small bits of toast, chicken, steamed peas and carrots, yogurt melts, Cheerios (softened with a little bit of breast milk - this is probably her favorite), broccoli, bits of avocado, scrambled egg yolk... Anything that's slippery can be coated with wheat germ or cereal flakes to make it easier for them to pick up. Just make sure that anything that won't dissolve is cut into very small pieces, since she won't really be doing any chewing at this point.
Hope mealtime gets better for you! I can't really blame the kiddos when they protest the purees - most of them seem so gross! :P
ETA: oftentimes on the days DD refuses purees, she's actually more willing to eat them after she's gotten her finger foods. no idea why, but if that's what works...
