I just got a random email from my big-boss, with my direct boss CC'ed, thanking me for my dedication and basically just telling me how awesome I am (AW!). I can't help but wonder about the timing, though. Yesterday was my weekly day off and lucky me, I've been sick. I called yesterday to let them know my dr feels I need to stay home at least one more day. They asked me if I could call at 10 to check on ratios and potentially come in at lunch. (ummm.. no?) Sooo, now I get an email about my wonderful dedication? Buttering me up, perhaps? Guilting me in to coming in at lunch? I wish I could just take it at face value and feel good about my position.. But I'm doubting and questioning and feeling guilty for laying on my couch....
Thoughts?

Hopefully it's just a "real" email. Honestly, it would take a lot of effort for someone to scheme up to send you a "buttering up" email to try to get you to come in if the ratios are fine...so I would definitely take it at face value! And don't feel guilty, as a mom to a daycare kiddo, I SO appreciate that you are not going in to work to get the kids sick!

probably they sent it to you b/c they (finally) realized that you are the bomb diggity when it comes to the care of young children.
don't you dare doubt and feel guilty about staying home. you KNOW if it were Camy at school and her teacher came in after having a high temp/ being sick, you'd be upset that she was spreading those nasty germs around. take the day, relax, get the funk out.
Ditto MC. They probably see how crappy things are without you for a couple of days and thought that you just might need a little pick-me-up since you're sick and probably feeling crappy.

it sounds to me that maybe they feel bad for trying to pressure you into coming in today. in the environment you work in, i think it's best that you take the additional day off to feel better ... it wouldn't be good to bring those germs into the room you work in. you're doing the right thing & maybe they finally get that.
get some rest! feel better soon.
Ditto. I don't think they are trying to get you to come in, I think they realized they were out of line trying to get you to come in when you're sick and are saying they are sorry, because they know you are fabulous.

Whaaaat? Dude, you should say, "Maybe you didn't hear that last part- I'm coughing up BLOOD".
Crazytown.
Feel better soon {{{hugs}}}
WOW. That is really disappointing that they would put the health of their tiniest population (or ANY of the kiddos) at risk by trying to guilt you into coming in.
Shame shame, BeckO's boss.
wow, that's ridiculous. honestly, i can see my boss pulling something like this because he's an a**, but it makes me reallly sad that a daycare would put the health of little babies on the line because they can't survive a few hours without you.
I'm so sorry that you are feeling bad. I hope you feel better soon.
I am also sorry that your boss is a dipsh!t. I wonder if the big boss doesn't know that you are out sick today and that the direct boss is laying the guilt trip on you. Maybe the big boss is just sending you a nice note because of Teacher Appreciation Week (its this week at our daycare) and has no idea that you are sick.
This is my guess.
