Re: oh yeah...

  • Oh, jeebus.  Don't get me started.  I asked for queso (at a MEXICAN restaurant) and the guy was like "you mean cheese dip"?  Then, what I got was some melted Velveeta with a few hunks of beefsteak tomato.  FML.

  • Can you get velveeta and cilantro? If so, I can give you a recipe. It will guarantee friends and social activities. Wink
  • I went to a mexican restaurant (a chain) that had it listed on the happy hour menu and was so freaking excited! I so asked and the waitress was all, oh that's only on the east coast? wtf?

I say make your own queso - from what I've read, it's not too difficult, right?  then you can have it anytime you want it!

  • i must be crazy.  i prefer the mexican food in CA - but that's what i grew up with.  do you have an on the border there?  they have queso.  so does chili's (i think).  i would kill for some rubios right now.

  • Velveeta + Rotel + a little milk = Queso.

Seriously, it's very easy to make. Do you have a little crock pot? If not get one and you can be the queso queen in northern CA. Turn on crockpot, half a block of velveeta and 1 regular can of rotel and let it melt. As it melts you can then determine if you need milk so it won't be as thick or if you need more cheese. It can also be made with a block of american cheese which is also yummy. If you like it with meat fry up some breakfast sausage and throw it in the queso.
