Showering at Night (clicky poll)

Reading a post on the MM board, I was a bit surprised to see how many gals thought showering at night instead of in the morning was gross.

I'm curious what ya'll think about that.  And I'm bored.

Re: Showering at Night (clicky poll)

  • I'm the first to vote, but I will shower at night when I know I have to wake up super early and want to straighten or curl my hair. My hair takes forever to dry, so if I shower at night, it is dry by morning. Otherwise, I shower in the mornings. Or afternoons, like today :-)

  • I shower at night or in the morning whenever I can fit it in. Normally it is at night.

  • I always, always shower in the morning, but I don't think it's gross if you don't. It's just my routine. I do end up leaving with wet hair a lot, though. Klassy.

  • I will shower at night if I have exercised the night before ... but then I shower again when I get up.

  • I don't shower at night because I have short hair and it is all funky in the morning. I have to wet it down and start from scratch anyway so might as well shower in the morning. Showering at night isn't gross, just a waste for me.

  • I never shower at night and then not shower in the morning.  I sweat a lot at night and my hair gets all messed up and ugly.

Also, I have to shower in the morning otherwise I just feel gross all day.

  • 2 teenagers, 2 adults, 1 bathroom.  We've got a schedule.  Kids shower at night...adults shower in the morning.  It just works out better that way.  Sometimes if it's been a rough day and I feel stinky I'll grab a second shower at night after the kids are in bed (or a nice bath...) but I still shower in the morning.

    2) I shower at night because I do not have the time in the morning - I'm by myself with the kids once they wake up, no time!!

  • I guess I should reply to my own poll.

Pre children - I always showered in the am.  I also wore makeup and blew my hair dry and curled it every single day.

Post children - I shower at night because I have a hard time forcing myself to get up that extra bit earlier to shower in the morning and I don't sweat a lot, so that's not an issue for me.

  • until recently I was always a morning shower-er.  Now if I shower at night, I rinse in the am.  I also don't typicaly shower on the weekends unless I have somethin special to get ready for.

  • I don't think it's gross.  But I do get sweaty when I sleep sometimes, so I'd rather shower in the morning.  But when I can get one in, I don't care when it is.  We are so often rushing out of here in the mornings that it's hard for me to find the time before 8AM.  :)

  • I voted SS because I don't really fit into either of the other options.  I generally shower when I put Lila down for her nap, but sometimes I'll wait until she's in bed for the night.  Just depends on what's going on that day.  I don't think there's anything at all wrong with showering at night.  And unless you have serious night sweats or something I can't imagine why it would be "gross" to shower at night.
  • I voted SS, mostly because I don't like showering at night because I find it pointless for me.  My hair will be dirty again even if I blow dry it at night by 11am.  I will do it, when it's the only time I can, and it will be an updo day.  I prefer in the mornings.  I don't think it's gross to take a shower at night though.

  • I voted SS= It depends on our day.  Mon/Wed M has school at 9:30, so I will shower the night before, otherwise I might not get a chance.  Tu/Th we are usually home so I will shower (if I do) when W naps.  It is harder then I expected to get in a quick shower with 2 kiddos, taking them at night means I actually have time to shave and wash my hair, as opposed to a just a quick rinse.

  • I always shower at night, but I've also always had jobs where I'm very dirty at the end of the day. There are so many yucky things people touch during the day, that it makes more sense to me. How dirty could you possibly get while asleep?

  • I guess I'm a SS. Before Jake I showered in the mornings because I work 3-11:30pm. Now I shower in the mornings during his first nap of the day. Or if I want to straighten my hair I shower in the evening and then straighten it once DH gets home and takes over baby duty.

This for me, too.  To wear my hair straight, it's a long process that I usually start the night before.  It also helps to flatten out some of the unwanted volume of my hair, overnight.

I usually shower in the morning, but since being at home for the last year, I've showered all times of day.  I don't think it's gross to shower only at night, though.  My biggest problem is that I prefer to let my hair air dry, which takes HOURS.  If I go to bed with wet hair, I don't sleep well and my hair AND pillow will still be wet in the morning. :-P

I have only showered in the morning for a brief period of time in my life when I didn't have anywhere to be in the morning. I just can't do it - I need more sleep than that and am a night owl. Most of our kids bathe at night growing up so I really don't see what is so different about adults doing it at night too. My DH showers in the morning because it wakes him up and because he can't get his hair to look right if he doesn't but I just can't shower in the morning unless it's on the weekends and I'm not on a schedule.

    This.

Same here!  My hair is really fine and looks nasty if I sleep on it, no matter how clean it was when I went to bed.  I wish I could shower at night!

  • I prefer to shower in the morning, and used to always do that, but (a) sometimes the shower wakes Max up and (b) he often is awake before 7am so on workdays I have to be ready to go by then, and I just don't want to get up that much earlier. So I shower at night on weekdays and morning on weekends.

  • Most of the time I don't like showering at night because I let my hair air dry, which means my pillow gets all wet.

But, when it's hot, I will shower at night because it helps me cool down and I will sleep better.

  • I haven't ever found that I sweat when I sleep and my jammies are clean and bed is clean so I'm not sure how I would get dirty in the night?  Anyway I woudl LOVE to shower at night but my hair somehow gets a wavy and jacked up so I end up wetting it down if I shower the night before.  I totally would if I could though because it would be way easier than using precious napping time during the day!  I'm completely jealous of those that can shower and air dry their hair and have it look great, I would look like I stuck my finger in a light socket!

  • I PREFER showering at night, and used to from Junior High until pregnancy. But then I got too exhausted at night. I like it better because I air dry my hair anyway so it was dry when I woke up (and then I'd straighten parts)...plus I don't sweat or anything at night so I felt it kept my bed and sheets CLEANER than if I went to bed with the grime of the day on me. I'd be better about washing my face, moisturizing, brushing teeth - everything you should do at night. But I don't have the energy at night anymore. I miss it actually.

  • It's not gross, I just need a morning shower to start my day.  But, I also have DH to watch DD while I shower and he gets her ready for school.

In the summer, I'll probably shower at night more often, bc I'll be staying home with DD and sleeping in as late as possible.
