We are TTC Baby #3 and have already been throwing around names.

I'm in love with the name Harper for some reason. What would be a middle name to go with it? Or, is Harper a fad name to steer clear of? It's been almost two years since I've been on the name search!

Re: Harper
Yes, it is trendy. It was not in the top 1,000 before 2004, when it debuted at #887. By 2010, it was up to #119 and still rising steadily. If you don't want a trendy name, keep looking.
You might like Harlow, which is also trendy, but much less popular at the moment (though it might follow the same trajectory as Harper over the next few years).

Harper is a little trendy but better than most. I think a classic mn sounds best, like: Harper James, Harper David, Harper Lawrence, or Harper Kenneth
Be careful with the ar-er sounds; it makes r's difficult to add.
Good luck TTC!

I have only known Harper as a girl's name, and I was going to suggest something classic and feminine - Harper Elizabeth, Harper Marie, etc.
Baby Boy born sleeping at 20 weeks.
Harper Lee doesn't think it's trendy! I love it!
I was totally thinking Harper for a girls name. Didn't even consider it would be thought of for a boy. I do really like the sound of Harper Elisabeth. But I do not want a trendy name. I hadn't heard of any Jordyn's 4 years ago. We went back and forth on whether to use a y or traditional a. Now I hear the name everywhere it seems and it gets misspelled all the time. Whoops! Not going there again!
I love that Davis is so rare!
My two cents (since it will be my baby's name this August)
For a GIRL: yes it's trendy, but in 2010 it's #119 on SSA (and gaining popularity as pp said). I had a really hard time with it being popular because when I first fell in love with it, it was nowhere near the 100's. The thing that made me feel better is that in the year I was born, my name was #73 (I believe) and I rarely hear it, and only shared my name with one girl in all of elementary and middle school. I think a lot of it is regional, and where I live no one has heard of Harper or knows any. Hope that helps too!
