Anyone have one that I might be able to borrow for next week? It just occurred to me that we are flying in ONE WEEK and I have planned absolutely nothing. Since this is our first flight with DS in his own seat, I thought I'd run out and pick up a CARES harness today, but I learned that not only is Buy Buy Baby the only place local to buy it (I live in Georgetown), but it's $75!!
So, seeing as how we only fly maybe once a year, I thought I'd see if I can borrow one before investing in one of our own that we may never use again. Or, do you think DS will really need it? He is almost 3, and I know it's for use up to 44lbs (he's not near that). He is about 33lbs and probably 35"-36" tall. He seems big to me - big enough to use the regular lap belt in the airline seat, but I have no clue if that's really a good idea. Help?
Re: CARES harness?
I'm not local anymore of you could borrow mine.
Also, you can use the bbb coupons on the cares harness which is nice if you decide to get one.
your kiddo is about the same size as mine. we've flown with it on and with it off. I felt better with it on, but it's a bit tricky the first few times to adjust if correctly and sometimes the poeple behind you give you looks while you are trying to adjust it and _I_ get flustered so H ends up uncomfortable.
some seats are easier than others, I also recommend having a neck pillow with you to help make them comfy
and try to board early so you can get the cares on and adjusted
good luck!
Definitely - thank you so much! Just shoot me an email when you're home and settled and we'll work it out. amy dot janik at gmail.
And fjaril thanks for the tips. We are flying Jet Blue which the seats are generally more comfy than other airlines, but I have no idea if that makes them easier for the harness. I will definitely try to board early, since it will be just me and DS on our flight out there (DH will be with us on the way home).

jet blue seats aren't too hard. make sure you practice with a kitchen chairs and let the little one sit in so it's "fun"
