possibly moving to AZ

I'm trying to convince my DH to apply for a job in Chandler Az,  There would be a lot more responsibilities on him than what he's doing now but i know that he would excell at it and it's a huge move.  We currently live in the New England area so it would be a very long haul but i told him it would be better to do it now than after the peanut is born.  Does anyone have any suggestions to help persuade him to apply for the position?  =)  Thank you.

Re: possibly moving to AZ

  • The cost of living in AZ I would guess to be less than the cost of living where you are. My DH and I moved here 3? years ago from CO and love it. The summers are hot, but they are not that bad, there isn't humidity to deal with and to me it was no different than a really cold winter, you just hang out inside, or in water. The winters are beautiful and if you need snow it is only a couple hours away. Oh and when your baby gets a little older Disney Land is just a few hours away too (makes family vacations a bit less expensive)

Thank you =)  I keep dropping subtle hints but i don't want to annoy him to the point where he says forget it.  The cost of living is the first thing that i mentioned.  It is a lot better.  We'd be saving almost $300 a month on rent!!  And gas prices are a little cheaper out there then here =)  I love the fact of no humidity.  It does wonders to my hair. lol.
  • Our weather rocks :)
  • I was in the same boat as you.  We moved out here a little over 2 years ago from Jersey (almost 3,000 miles!!).  My family moved out here in 2005 and I so missed them and really didn't like Jersey so it took awhile (subtle hints for 4 years!) but my husband finally decided it was worth it to get me off his back and it would be easier when we had children.  I sat my husband down and honestly explained what I was feeling and to pros of being out here (cost of living was a pretty big difference, we would have never been able to buy another close to our house in Jersey), no more snow clean up, great opportunity, etc.  Luckily my husband landed a great job a couple months before we planned to move and everything fell into place.  If I were you, I would try to convince my husband to apply.  My harm in applying!  And see what develops from there.  Or maybe ask him why he's against applying, he might have a good reason in his mind.  I wish you lots of luck!!
