Good sleeper turned bad?

DS2's sleeping the last few days has gotten progressively worse.  He went from me just laying him in his crib awake and sleeping all night and taking 2-3 hour naps to screaming his head off when I try to lay him down and only wanting to sleep in someone's arms.  Yesterday, he only napped for the 20 min DH held him and he only went to sleep in his crib b/c DH laid on the floor next to it.

I did CIO with him a long time ago and I'll do it again if I have to, I just don't understand what changed all of a sudden.  And CIO is so much harder now b/c he always wakes DS1 up...which leaves us all tired and crabby.

Have any of you had something similar happen?  What worked for you to get DC back on track?  I need the downtime I get when both boys are sleeping as much as I need the sleep!!!

Re: Good sleeper turned bad?

  • We're going through something similar with DD2, but it's been going on for months.  With my DD I really think it's related to her adjustment (or maladjustment) to the new baby in the house and lack of attention from me. :(

But normally, when this happens I would think it's either teething, ear infection, or other onset of illness.  Other things for you to think about - is he too hot/too cold, or hungry?  Napping too long midday?  GL, it's tough to go through once they start sleeping!
