Whoa. Ammonia stink. Normal?

Holy heck. Over the past 2 weeks, I've noticed an insanely strong ammonia smell from DS's diapers in the morning. It smells as though I am smelling straight ammonia from a bottle. Normal? The stink comes out in the wash but should it be so strong? It knocks my socks off.

What detergent are you using? I started having it on overnights, then all my diapers started smelling and the ammonia smell coming from the diaper pail made my eyes water so I stripped and switched to tide powder from RnG and haven't had a problem since.

Using RnG which I hate. I was using Tide powder but stopped because I was afraid if I was doing long term damage. Maybe I should start up again. I was going to try dropps but that may not be any better. 

Should I strip? I just changed DS and put his diaper on the floor next to me until I get up and put it in the pail....but I can't even stand having it next to me. It smells that bad.

I just tried a RnG strip yesterday and this morning, Barf!  She had a flip organic insert on all night and it smelled awful, maybe I should go get some tide powder today.
