Cloth Diapering

F/U to I think I broke my washing machine

So my machine is dead.  I guess from what I hear the front loaders don't last very long and mine was 8 years old which I apparently is a nice long life.

Now my problem is I have no washing machine for 7-10days.  I can do laundry at my MIL's but she uses a crapton of fabric softener.  Is there a way of removing any leftover repellants in her machine before I use it?  Do I even need to worry?  I haven't used fabric softener in a long time so I didn't have to worry about this when I switched to CDing.

  • i would do a hot wash with a ton of vinegar (no dipes) that should get rid of the softener.

Cool thanks.  Do you think 1 cup of vinegar is good? She has a top loader.

  • I'd make it with a load of towel or something.  I have no idea about the amount of vinegar though.

I secretly wish mine would break so I could get something that was easier to add more water.

I totally agree lol... I was excited for the same reasons when we did our bathroom reno, which moved our laundry room out of the basement, and our FL machines didn't fit up the stairs lol (old house).

  • I'd do a load of towels with 1/2 a cup vinegar then wash diapers.
