how to get nipple shields to stick?!?

Hey ladies,

I am trying to get DS to latch now using nipple shields and an SNS, as I work to build my milk supply.The good news is DS will latch onto the shield now, which he would never do in the past (without the SNS). But the nipple shield gets ripped off/knocked off all the time. Sooo annoying, especially to a hungry baby. Any tips? I've tried "lick and stick," which works somewhat better than water for me. I had tried lanolin, which didn't really seem to work. Any other ideas? TIA!

I had to keep mine dry to stick them. Once milk got under them when I was emptied, they'd come off so easy.  I had to hold them on, then I weaned asap (about 3 weeks later)

Ugh, it's so annoying right? Sometimes mine sticks great, other times it slides all over the entire time. So far I haven't figured out what the difference is! It definitely sticks better when it's clean (sometimes in the middle of the night I'm too exhausted to get up and wash it, and then the next time it doesn't stick great). Other than that, I'm interested to hear what other people say.

I usually ran my nipple shield under warm water before putting it on; that seemed to help it stick better (warm shield against warm skin).

I fold it back 3/4 of the way instead of 1/2 and then it seems to stick better. That's the only thing that really worked for me.

I got to be a pro with these things...I NIP all the time.

Yes, they need to be dry first. Then, I used my tongue and licked rim all the way aroung and put on by pressing on nipple part and rubbing rim to boob to get out extra spit. Water never worked for but spit was a winner!!
