Dumb question? HSC vs HSG?

Is there a difference?   I just looked at my paperwork and it's actually an HSC.   I've left a message to get whatever it is I need scheduled but I can't seem to figure out what the difference is.  I think I'll post on the fertility board too.

TIA

  • I didn't know the difference, so I found this link:

    ?It's definitely different.?

  • Thanks Marisa!  You're definitely a better googler than I am!   Turns out I'm having an HSC not an HSG!

Hmmm - I wonder if anyone has had the HSC....

  • If its an HSC - that's what I had.  A saline sonogram.  Seems the mine was not as bad as others described.  So you may be in luck!

  • Alison - did you go by yourself?  Or did B go with you?   I'm trying to figure out if I can leave E with Ryan and go on my own.

I did go with Brandyn... and was glad I did.  The whole experience made me mildy crampy... and light headed.

  • Hmmm, I'm not sure what HSC stands for but I've had all three of the tests mentioned on the linked page. ?The HSG is the dye test with an Xray, the?hysteroscopy which that doc calls an HSC (I've never heard that abbreviation before) is actually a more invasive test -- they dilate your cervix and thread a tube with a camera on one end through it to get a very clear view of your uterus and tubes. ?The?hysterosonogram or saline ultrasound, is similar to the HSG but with saline and an ultrasound instead of dye and an Xray.

    ?

The HSG and?hysterosonogram?were done in office with no pain meds. ?The hysteroscopy was done under light sedation in a surgery center. ?My hysteroscopy was surgical to remove a polyp though so that may have made the whole process a bit more involved.

    ?

    Good luck!?
