How do you hang a little tikes swing?

I've googled it and I can't figure it out.  We have a perfect tree branch... how did y'all do it?  Bonus points for pics.

  • uhh...just tie the rope in a knot.  Right?  What else would you do?

  • I can take pics later, but basically DH got some heavy duty rope, cut it into two pieces and then tied each piece in a super cool way (and then heat sealed the knot) around the tree branch. It hangs down probably 5 inches or so from the tree branch. Then he put some kind of hook dealy on the rope and we latch the hooks on the swing onto the hook. It doesn't swing the straightest, but it was the only way we could figure out how to get it onto the tree branch!
  • We just put ours up yesterday!

Pardon the lack of technical terms - DH bought two pieces of rope, tied industrial strength clippy things on the end, and looped the rope over the branch and through the clippy things.  Tied the rope to the swing, and voila!  He also had a lighter and heat sealed something - maybe the knots or the ends of the rope?  Anyhow - pics:

The rope was too long, which is why it's all wrapped around like that.

And just for kicks, here's how much DD loves her swing:image

  • DH used heavy duty rope and some kind of rope clamps he bought at Lowe's. After Cam's down for nap I'll go outside and take pics.

Dude...that looks awesome. We just hooked the two hooks that were on the original rope together. I am not very impressed and am scared it's not installed correctly because it'll shimmy it's way down the branch. I 'll have to show dh your pictures and hope he can figure out.
  • We bought some chain - probably about two feet total - from Home Depot to hang the swing (the chain is connected to the rope that came with the swing and hangs on the tree). We actually just installed it this week, as a squirrel or something chewed through the rope on H's first swing (hence the reason for the chain). Fingers crossed this one lasts...
