IUI#2 w/ Clomid

AF just showed up today... and while I'm sad... I am excited to move on to IUI #2 with Clomid. Does anyone have advice for using clomid for the first time? Or a previous post you can point me towards? I usually ovulate on CD 17 or 18 and I am hoping clomid will help me ovulate sooner. Here we go again...

Re: IUI#2 w/ Clomid

  • In my experience, Clomid makes you O later... but that was just me.  The other thing that helped me was getting blood work done around the time I was POAS.....they could measure the LH and the estrogen in my system which better help them time the trigger shot.  Good luck!!!!

People have differing side effects from Clomid. I took it for 5 cycles and my primary symptoms were severe headaches (although they did go away with Motrin/Tylenol/etc) and being hot (and I am never hot!) I didn't have the mood swings that some people talk about (thankfully!)

     Good luck!

  • No advice, but good luck :)
  • I took 2 rounds of 50 and 1 of 100.  My ovulation stayed exactly the same.  Clomid made me crazy, though.  I would do it again in a heartbeat but it made me f'ing nuts.  I had absolutely no problem when I was actually taking the pills, it was about a week after my last pill (each cycle) that I became verge of breakdown, crazy.  The second round of clomid was by far the worse.. I cried for 5 days straight.  I did much better on 100.  I had practically no side effects.  I think it has to do with your body chemistry.  Mine didn't gel with the 50 mg.  It probably won't happen to you, most people complain of hot flashed and headaches but be aware it can happen and will pass :)  I got pregnant on my 6th IUI, my third medicated cycle.

  • I got pregnant on IUI #2 on Clomid, so there's definitely hope! The only side effect I had with Clomid was headaches and insomnia. Just be sure you take it on the exact days your doc tells you to, and be sure they are doing ultrasounds to monitor your follicle size. GL to you!

  • Thank you all for the info and stories! I am on day 2 of clomid today. I do have a headache, but I think it is from cutting out caffiene. I am not having any more u/s done before ovulation and I sort of wish I could have one! Is it normal to not have the follicals checked?
