Mine hasn't been overly complicated, but it hasn't been a cake-walk either. I've blown through my $2500 retainer and we're just getting to the point where we can agree to everything that'll be in the final papers.
We have temporary orders issued through the courts for child custody/parenting time/child support.
I don't know off the top of my head how many hours my attorney has spent on my case, but I can tell you I've spent over $50K in the last year (literally 12 months) for attorney's fees. Not a month has passed where I haven't shelled out between 2-10K. My divorce is finalized, but my XH has filed an objection to the ruling and he stated in court that he would be appealing the decision, regardless of how the judge rules. Also, he always threatened to ruin me financially if I ever left him, so I'm sure that's what he's trying to do. My XH is able to do this because he doesn't have a job and he's representing himself, so he's devoted a lot of his time to writing ridiculous motions that my lawyer has to then respond to. Needless to say I've had a very messy and complicated divorce and I don't see any end in sight at the present time. But I know I'm doing what's best for me and my LO and I see it as the best money I've ever spent (although I still hate parting with it).
I don't know how many hours were spent, but I can tell you how much it ended up being. It took 3 months to finalize everything and we agreed on most things. We had a few debates but we didn't go to mediation or anything like that. It was $3,500. I used a junior attorney in the firm since it was fairly uncomplicated. Her rate was $200 per hour.
