We didnt. DS1 was not waking at night (and therefore not being changed) in the middle of the night when DS2 was born. So we took the one from DS1's room and put it in DS2's room.
We also have one on the first floor since that is where we spend most of our time during the days.
We had two, but I don't think it was necessary. I found myself carrying DS's diapers into DD's room so I didn't end up with two filled Genies all the time. We gave away the 2nd one before DD was 6 months old.
