Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

leaking at night

My 17 month old has been leaking nearly every night out of the blue and I'm not sure what we should do.  We use Huggies overnight diapers one size up which are great.  She gets a 4-6 oz. cup of milk before bed which we're working on eliminating.  I've seen the diaper inserts online, but saw one woman say she uses Poise pads.  Has anyone had any experience with either product or have any suggestions?  i'm getting tired of washing her sheets every day!!

  • I think Huggies are the problem. Try Pampers or Luvs or Target brand.  We've gone to Pamper's Overnights.  Huggies leak BAD!

  • We've gone to the Pampers with dry max and they really work.  Before that, I would put a disposable breast pad in the overnight diaper.

We use the Pampers overnights as well and haven't had any issues with leaking. I would probably recommend trying another brand to see if that helps.

  • I don't think Huggies work as well as some others.  I find Fisher Price Happy Nights work better.  Now, that said.....my DS is a champion pee-er and still pees through!  I have tried the poise pads - no luck.  So far, what is working for us is an overnight diaper, covered by a large size (3T/4T for my 14 mo. old) pullup over the diaper.  It has to come up past the top of the diaper.  That seems to be working so far.  And, I just buy the store brand pull ups.

  • ITA with PP's who said switch to a different brand.  We've tried both Huggies and Pampers and both my kids leaked with Huggies.  The only time we've ever had leaking with Pampers is when it was time to move up a size.

  • We were having the same problem with Pampers Baby Dry all of a sudden. So we switched to Pampers Cruisers with Dry Max, and haven't leaked since.. (knock on wood!)
  • get pampers.

I have always heard huggies are not good for boys and the older he gets the more he drinks

  • DS went through the same issue recently. I think he was inbetween diaper sizes. Try the pads (they look like maxi pads without the adhesives). It made a difference. After 2 weeks I stopped because he grew into his diaper. GL.

BTW I got them at BRU and had to have a clerk help me find them. They're cheap too $3.50 for a pakage of 30.

  • We use pampers baby dry and diaper booster pads for night time. I had 7 months of night leaks with ds. A fellow bumpie suggested the diaper booster pads. The are sold at babies r us. DS hasnt had a night leak in 4 months
  • We love Pampers Baby Dry - no dry max in them - they can hold A LOT ....been using them since approx 8 months if I recall correctly.  Maybe buy a small pack and give them a try.
