I want to buy a portable DVD player for long car rides with the kids. I looked on Amazon and many of them have dual screens that attach to the headrest, which seems pretty cool.
1. How do most of these units plug in? Is there a long cord the ciggarette lighter? Battery? I don't want it to die mid trip.
2. Anyone have recos on a good system to buy? Amazon's reviews are all over the place...
Thanks!
Re: Portable DVD player for a car?
We have one but it's a cheap one. My dad bought it at Kroger but it works well. It plugs into the cigarette lighter, I believe it also can take batteries but we just plug it in. Our only problem now is that we have 2 kids and one portable dvd player and the screen is too small for them to really share it in the car. Luckily our next vacation is next Summer and hopefully we'll be flying!
We have this one: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/Philips+-+9%22+Widescreen+Portable+DVD+Player+with+Dual+Screens/9468952.p?id=1218110421046&skuId=9468952
It plugs into the cigarette lighter but also has a regular cord so you can use it in the house. We've used it on a couple long road trips (to visit my family in NH) and it's been a lifesaver.
I'm glad you like this one. I was liking the price and reviews on the exact same one - only the 7 inch version.
We just bought the 7" version, from Target, last Black Friday ($85). We haven't used it, yet (although we have a really old portable DVD that we've used in the past, pre-W, and it was a life saver).
We also have this one and it has been great when we drive down to lexington to see my family. We only use the one screen for now, but wanted to get two screens for in the future.
