hi lisa! i never did follow-up on your last post about our swaddling issues - I love that photo of will - SO CUTE!!! haha. that's how E would sleep too, but not with his butt in the air - he doesn't know how to get onto his knees. but he would have his face on his hands, just like that!
and after getting over the inital worry of E sleeping on his tummy in the woombie, i love it! he's only woken up once/night ever since we started using it, and last night, he didn't even get up to eat until 5:25am! (and then was up for the day, but that's another issue, heh)
he still fusses during light sleep cycles when he's on his tummy, but goes back to sleep without needing us to help him, so i'm just hoping that it gets better. i actually went in and turned him on to his back last night at 1am, b/c i was tired of hearing him cry for a few minutes every 20-30 min, it seemed, for the last few hours. of course, he woke up when I flipped him, but then fell asleep on his back after 20 min or so. when he sleeps on his side (which he couldn't do with the double swaddle), he sleeps really well. now, if only he would just stay on his side!
but all in all, HUGE improvement over the double swaddle and no swaddle!
Re: redshoe lisa - woombie yay!
Yaaay! I'm SO glad it's working for you - I bet you feel like a new woman with all the sleep you're getting!
They really are awesome, and I love that they give that extra bit of gently restrained movement - really handy if you have a LO like mine or yours who needs out of the regular restrictive swaddle but isn't quite ready to go completely without yet. Plus they look so freaking cute...like little caterpillars.
I wouldn't worry about the fussing during light sleep cycles - it's actually really common for babies to fuss (even cry) as they transition between sleep cycles, so that may be what's happening as well. Just keep giving him a chance to put himself back to sleep and he'll get used to it and grow out of it.
