Disney Cruises

Anyone been on one before? I just found out they go to Alaska. Something DH really wants to do. I am thinking next summer if we can save the money for it.

I went in 2005 with my mom and nephew on a their 7 day cruise to the carribean and hands down was my favorite vacation (next to my honeymoon).  I can't wait to take dd on one someday.  It was very elegant in addition to being so kid friendly.

  • I went with my parents when I was 9, so considering it was so long ago, not sure if my comments mean anything to you ;)

I loved it! It was called The Big Red Boat back then. (early 90s) We cruised to the Bahamas for 4 days, then went to Disney for 3 days. I actually enjoyed the cruise more than the park. But that may have something to do with the fact that I got sick and couldn't really enjoy it.

I hope to do a family cruise one day, but my DH is not a fan of water, so we'll see...

We did The Big Red Boat as a kid too!

I would not hesitate to take a Disney cruise with young kids. Go and have fun!

  • I've heard good things about DCL. One thing to look in to is the age limits -- under a certain age kids can't go to the kids club stuff, so your only option for kid-free time is a paid babysitter in your cabin. Check out the boards at cruisecritic.com -- very helpful!

  • LOL, we also did the Big Red Boat!  I LOVED that cruise.  3 summers ago now, FI had never been on a cruise and I basically recreated that cruise-small Royal Carribean ship, 4 nights at sea 4 nights at Disney afterwards.  I haven't met many people who have been on the BRB!

A sad note-rumor has it that they sunk all the Big Red Boats and turned them into Coral reefs for scuba divers.  :(
