NTR: Do you use Bare Minerals or similar? Recommend please.

I've never used a foundation and just use a cheap bronzer powder daily instead. I'm ready to make a switch to something that will even out my skintone more and maybe even be good for my skin long term (if there is such a thing). I've seen Bare Minerals advertised a lot but don't really know if it's worth it or what other options there are. Tx!

  • I've been using Bare Minerals for 7 years and LOVE it!! I hate liquid foundation and with BM you can't really tell you're even wearing makeup. My skin also breaks out pretty bad with other makeup, but does not with Bare Minerals. Love it!

  • I have Bare Minerals, but I only use it in the summer time. I get really dry skin on my face when it is cold outside, and I feel like the makeup clumps around the dry skin, making my face look even worse. Other than that, I really like the Bare Minerals. It can be expensive, but I know that there are a lot of other companies out there that have similar products. I absolutely love the eye shadow from Bare Minerals, I feel like it actually stays on all day and looks good.
  • i used the loreal version of that stuff (cheaper) for years. I liked it and I like a natural look to my makeup. I recently switched though because it didn't even out my skkin tone enough and I felt and looked like I had nothing on after a few hours.

I have been using it for three years now. I absolutley love it. I still use a stick concelear first under my eyes and over any pimples, then use the bare minerals on top and then a cheap bronzer over that. The bare minerals alone doesn't look good on my face I still need the bronzer for a little color. My MIL and BFF use it and they do not use anything over it and it looks great on them without bronzer. I suggest going into Sephora and asking them if you can test it. They will most likely do a quick tutorial with you about it and put it on you. it is pricey but for me worth it not to have liquid foundation on anymore.

  • I've never tried Bare Minerals, but I use a minerals powder foundation and concealer from www.eyeslipsface.com .  They also have mineral eyeshadow that I use and love.  The prices are really cheap!  Most things are only $1 - $5 each.

  • I love Bare Minerals.  It's the only thing that doesn't break me out or make me blotchy/itchy (I have sensitive skin).  I highly recommend it!

Yup, this. It's a tad pricey but it lasts me a really long time. Also, I think its one of the only mineral makeups that are actually 100% minerals....a lot of the cheaper ones have additives in them. I will never wear liquid foundation again. Make sure you play around in the store (Sephora, Ulta, etc) to get the right shade for you though. If you are off a shade it will look horrible.

  • I just started using PurMinerals 4 in 1 https://www.purminerals.com/4-in-1-Pressed-Mineral-Makeup-Foundation-With-SPF-15 and love it.  I was using MAC mileralize liquid foundation but I started breaking out.  So far so good with Pur.

  • I've been using bare minerals for a couple years now and really like it.

Why not head to Sephora and let them try it out on you?

  • I've used Bare Escentuals for 8 years and I absolutely love it! Definitely the best foundation I've ever used. The initial cost is more expensive than drugstore make up, but the brushes are very durable and one jar of foundation lasts me months and months. If you branch into their blushes and eye shadows, those last me years. I have yet to empty a jar of blush or eye shadow!

If you are on the fence, try to visit one of their boutiques, or Ulta or Sephora. I think even some JCPenney's have Sephora counters now that carry BE. I believe QVC also offers a no questions asked return policy on their products.

  • Physicians Formula 3 piece mineral makeup kit comes with powder foundation, sheer mineral veil, and blush. It's $15 at Kroger and $19 at Walmart. Love, love, love it.

My only suggestion is that once you start using mineral foundation, you will most likely want to use some sort of makeup primer, which can also be pricey. However someone on this board suggested using monistat brand anti-chafing gel which is only like $6 a tube, and it works awesome!

  • I absolutely love Pur Minerals! It goes on so well and gives great coverage while still looking natural. I like that it's a pressed powder (I use the 4-in-1 stuff PP mentioned) vs. loose powder.

When I need a little extra glow, I use Physicians Formula bronzer and am happy with that. Got it on sale at CVS for around $7.

  • I've also been using bare minerals for a few years and love it. It is expensive but lasts a long time. You can try everydayminerals.com for a less expensive alternative. They are online only but will send you free samples. I like their stuff too, I tend to buy a lot of their blushes and colors because I'm too lazy to try to figure out which of their foundations match me.

  • I've been using BM for about a year and a half, I love the fact that I don't have to use a liquid foundation.  The "Warmth" bronzer is awesome!

However, I've noticed lately that the BM makes me shiny.  Not oily, but I have a sheen to my face.  I like the "glowing" look, but somehow the BM is making me too shiny lately, and I don't know why.  I especially notice it in photos.  (I have normal-to-dry skin.)
