Happy Thriday (today is my Friday at work) ladies!!
I am having a dilemma and I need your help/input.
So our plan was to go through one more IUI and if that did not work, go through IVF. Based on the IVF timelines, I would take BCP for a month or two months and then start the cycle for IVF.
Now if we do the IUI and it is not succesfful, that puts us into June. With the BCP, the earliest we could start is July or August.
Here is my dilemma:
IUI and everything else (office visits, monitoring, medications, procedure) is covered at 50% under our insurance.
The procedures of IVF itself (ER and ET with the possibility of ICSI) are not covered but the office visits, monitoring, and medications are (it is weird but I confirmed this with our health insurance coverage.
We have about $1500 left in our FSA that can be used towards anything, including our IVF procedure.
Part of me just wants to go straight to IVF just because of the timeline but DH says he rather go through our last IUI instead. I understand where he is coming from since the IVF is more $$$ and my dad would be paying for it. If we were successful with our IUI, then my dad would not have to use that money (obviously).
But on the other hand IF we do the IUI and not successful, then it just pushes our timeline out even more.
Can you tell I am a little impatient?
WWIFVD?
Sorry so long and rambling.
Re: WWIFVD?-longish
That's a tough call.
I think if your DH is really adamant about an IUI I think that's the way you should go.
I feel you on being impatient. DH wants to take a break until the end of July/early August and it's killing me but I have to respect that he isn't ready right now.

You do make a good point. Maybe he wants us to take this IUI as way to go into the IVF (if needed). DH has constantly said he wants to make sure my mental health is stable. I am glad he is concerned about me but other times he is a little too protective that it makes me stressed.
It has been a good break but I am ready to cycle again.
I know we will have more discussions and come to a decision soon.
how many IUI's have you done already?
i would ask you RE odds of success with IUI vs. IVF and then discuss with DH.
if the odds are much better (they usually are) i would just go IVF.

It's been a long journey. TTC since 9/06. multiple IUI's and IVF's and 4 m/c's. IVF#3 = BFP, twins, induced at 34w6d due to baby b passing away (no explanation). Delivered on 35w1d, Baby A - baby girl, and Baby B - baby boy, our little angel.

Good idea!
We have done four IUI's so far. 2 with Clomid, 1 Femara and the one in February was injections (Menopur).
